Please Note:  Combination Tap/Ballet classes are only offered through 3rd grade.
For 4th grade and up, each discipline is offered as a stand-alone class. 

PRESCHOOL 3-4 

DESCRIPTION:  This introduction to dance is designed to develop gross motor skills through axial, locomotor, and cross-lateral exercises which aid in cognitive development through creative movement and imagination.  Dancers will finish the year with foundational skills in tap and ballet and better body and spatial awareness.

CLASS LENGTH: one hour/once a week with a performance opportunity of two dances in the June recital

 

AGE: Dancers must be three by August 1st.

DRESS CODE:  

TAP/BALLET I

DESCRIPTION:  This combination tap and ballet class establishes proper technique by emphasizing correct posture and body placement.  Dancers work on skills and combinations to prepare for performance.  

​

CLASS LENGTH: one hour/once a week with a performance opportunity of two dances in the June recital

​

AGES:  currently in Kindergarten - 1st grade (ages 5-6)

​

DRESS CODE:  

  • hair pulled away from face in a tight bun or ponytail

  • any style black leotard 

TAP/BALLET II 

DESCRIPTION:  This combination tap and ballet class uses the skills learned in level one and moves dancers into a deeper understanding of proper technique. Dancers build upon skills at the barre, increase strength and conditioning, and learn more difficult choreography.  (must have taken TAP/BALLET I)

CLASS LENGTH: 1.5 hours/once a week with a performance opportunity of two or more dances in the June recital

​

AGES:  currently in 2nd - 3rd grade (ages 7-10)

​

DRESS CODE:  

  • same as TAP/BALLET I

DESCRIPTION:  Advanced classes focus on intricate and complex barre exercises, center combinations, and across the floor progressions.  Emphasis is placed on strength of technique and performance.   

​

CLASS LENGTH: minimum of 1.5 hours/once a week per discipline with a performance opportunity of two or more dances in the June recital. Classes can be longer according to level.

​

AGES:  3rd grade and up - prior experience required

​

DRESS CODE:  

  • hair pulled away from face in a tight bun or ponytail

  • any style black leotard 

  • pull-on dance skirts or shorts may be worn over leotard - Color - Black

​

ADVANCED CLASSES - TAP, BALLET, or JAZZ
